Having had a busy morning, I have just managed to grab a few hours of free time to play around with some ideas for my Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War play-test mini-campaign.
At present I am not sure whereabouts on the Russo-German border I will set my mini-campaign, but it is likely to be on one of the obvious main axes of advance (i.e. Konigsberg to Leningrad, Warsaw to Moscow, or Cracow to the Donbas).

Hi Bob,
ReplyDeletenice looking campaign map. For activating the Russian and German forces, do you plan on using the campaign rules in your "The Portable Colonial Wargame" book?
I've been thinking about gaming a WWI trench assault with my 10mm Pendraken Germans and Brits. I would like to try your portable wargame rules or Great War Spearhead.
However, I'm always conflicted with what to do with my spare time. For now, I'm focusing on finishing painting my WWI figures.
Scott,
DeleteI’ll certainly be using the campaign system in PCW as the basis for my mini-campaign.
If you think of my PW units as platoons or companies, the rules would work for a trench assault. Artillery could be deployed just off table to mount a pre-attack barrage. Don’t forget, there are rules in DTPW for barbed wire, gas and smoke, and minefields,
Good luck with your painting your WW1 figures,
All the best,
Bob
Thanks for the suggestions Bob.
