Funny Little Wars/Portable Wargame Navies,

Whilst painting some gunners for my FUNNY LITTLE WARS/PORTABLE WARGAME ARMY KEPI ROUGE army, my mind turned to the prospect of creating some navies that would complement my existing FUNNY LITTLE WARS/PORTABLE WARGAME armies.

Looking along the shelves where my existing collection of suitable ship models are stored, I realised that I already have the basis of several possible navies …

… although I suspect (in reality, KNOW!) that I will want to build some additional models.

  1. Hi Bob -
The naval bug is a hard one to shake off, eh? I've been thinking lately that, as Turcowaz now has a very respectable navy, the two larger powers, Ruberia and Azuria, ought to have something at least comparable.

Very briefly, I thought 'Dreadnought' for the former, but really the armies somewhat predate their introduction, unless I bring into existence an Italian design that for lack of finance and materials couldn't be realised. But I'm thinking of 'Thunderer' Mark 2 (same as the one I made but in half the length) and maybe 'Royal Sovereign'. If you have any suggestions I'd welcome them!
    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. Archduke Piccolo (Ion),

Years ago I did a lot of naval wargaming, and the bug has never really left me. I’ve always enjoyed building model warships, and this project has presented me with the opportunity to build some more.

I’m thinking of building some French-style ironclads/pre-dreadnaughts to go alongside my ARMY KEPI ROUGE with the ARMY BLACK having some German-style equivalents.

Have you considered building something along the lines of HMS Nile? It’s a sort of slightly later version of the Thunderer and had a relatively long life.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Hello there Bob,

Building model warships? How very novel....Seriously though, it is great fun (but you knew that anyway) and I am really pleased to be back in the building groove!

    All the best,

    1. David Crook,

I am merely following your recent example … and hope I get as much fun from building my models as you obviously have making yours.

      All the best,

      Bob

  4. BOB,
A very neat and compact collection of your Naval Ships- well done. I particularly like the one based on HMS VICTORIA. Best Wishes. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson (Kev),

Cheers! My cartoon version of HMS Victoria will serve as the prototype for my forthcoming model warships.

      All the best,

      Bob
