The Fourth Portable Wargame Compendium: An update

Whilst I was on our recent cruise, I was able to do some work on the next edition of the Portable Wargame Compendium. I still have more articles to add to it, but currently the Contents page looks like this:

It has a distinctly nautical flavour at present ... but I hope that fact will not put off too many prospective purchasers.

    1. Mark Cordone,

Great! I know that there are several more articles in the pipeline … and I hope to include quite a few ‘Dominion of …’ articles if Stephen Parker gives his permission.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. Hi Bob,
Did you get my email giving permission? Just to state again clearly, yes you have my permission to publish any Dominion articles in this Compendium. I would appreciate a list of the articles just so I don't duplicate the topics as I tend to be working on a number of the rulesets at the same time and I'll work on something else instead if that topic is already being covered.
      All the very best
      Steve Parker

    3. Steve,

After I received your comment, I looked in my ‘Junk’ folders … and there was your reply! As you are in my list of contacts, I have no idea why this happened.

I will send you copies of the relevant text as and when I add it to the Compendium so that you know what they will cover. I’d also like to include a short explanation/introduction to the rules and a list of the booklets you’ve published to date.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Bob, the title of my piece should be Two Dice are Thrown - but perhaps should be changed to ...Rolled to conform to your usage in referring to dice!
    Best wishes, Arthur

    1. Maudlin Jack Tar,

I hope that it will prove popular with other PW and ‘Dominion of …’ rules.

  4. Bob -
I'm still thinking about an article featuring at least one of my other naval projects, with some ideas in mind. Possibly...
    - Chubby Marine: for Gridded Naval Wargames. I can't really 'do' a ship building 'tutorial', because my methods aren't so ... erm ... methodical. But I think I can describe my ship-building process. (Incidentally, with the building of H17 ('Havock' 1893 - slightly upscaled as befits a 'Destroyer Leader'), my Chromatic Wars navies are now complete - unless I add something to Izumrud-Zeleniya)
    - Mighty Armadas: toy warships with an ultra-simple rule set based on KEV Robertson's original ideas. I have added smaller craft (destroyers) and aircraft to the project, but have yet to formalise their inclusion in the rule set.
    - La Belle Epoque Navale: a game using your own simple 19thC naval rules using Age of Imperialism warships on a SPI Fighting Sail board (a possible 'Jutland' between Grauheim and Ruberia on one side, and Azuria and Porphyria on the other (6 ships in each contingent). I just gotta 'do' the battle anyway...
    - Portable 'Chubbified' Galleys ...

Anything there that might be of interest?
    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. Archduke Piccolo (Ion),

They all sound very interesting ... and I think that any 'How to ...' article would be of particular interest.

There's no rush to get an article written as I can easily include them in the next Compendium (Yes, I am already planning for that!).

      All the best,

      Bob
