Whenever I go on a cruise, I always look for things that I can use for wargaming … and this cruise yielded some very good items. In Tallinn I bought several ready-painted resin buildings:
Tallinn's famous Town Hall. The 15mm Essex Miniatures figure give some idea how big the model is.
The front view of two typical buildings of the sort found in the older part of Tallinn.
The back view of two typical buildings of the sort found in the older part of Tallinn..
Some of the buildings in Tallinn - such as the Saiakang Street House - are much smaller than those shown above.
Tallinn's famous Viru Gate. The stonework has been painted gloss silver(!) and will need to be repainted before it can be used on a tabletop battlefield.
Whilst in Visby, I acquired a small model of the Santa Maria church …
… and a pack playing cards that were decorated with views of Gotland.
Very nice little buildings with lots of potential Bob
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteI particularly like the gate and tower. They may need repainting but they are so typical of the sort of buildings/fortifications found around the Baltic that I can foresee all sorts of uses for it. In retrospect, perhaps I should have bought more than one!
All the best,
Bob
Bob -
ReplyDeleteThose buildings look very handy for European theatre war games. I'm especially taken with the 'Gotland' piece. A bunch of those or similar types would be great for 'Map Games'!
Cheers,
Ion
Archduke Piccolo (Ion),
DeleteVery true ... and the Gotland model would go very nicely alongside some of my other smaller-scale models for map games.
All the best,
Bob
Great looking terrain pieces! I envy you....
ReplyDeleteMark Cordone,
DeleteThey are just bits made for the tourist trade … but I think that they have potential.
All the best,
Bob
Nice buys Bob.
ReplyDeleteNundanket,
DeleteCheers! I wish that I’d been able to buy more.
All the best,
Bob
BOB,
ReplyDeleteA good selection of resin Buildings- they will go very well for your 15mm games. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteCheers! Hopefully they’ll get some use in the not too distant future.
All the best,
Bob
BOB,
DeleteI look forward to reading about your 15mm battle using the buildings- I'm assuming that it will be WW2. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteCheers! I hope to use them in a wargame in the near future … but I’m not sure if it’ll be WW2 or not.
All the best,
Bob
They look the part!
ReplyDeleteNice haul!
Roger,
DeleteCheers! I’m rather pleased with what I bought.
All the best,
Bob
