Some more Triang Minic 1:1200th-scale ships

I have made another foray onto eBay and have added four more Triang Minic 1:1200th-scale ships to my collection.

My four new Triang Minic Ton-class minesweepers.

They are four Ton-class minesweepers, HMS Carlton, HMS Dufton, HMS Repton, and HMS Upton ... and are splendid additions to my collection!

  1. BOB,
Excellent choice of the new Triang minesweepers- they look great. I've been collecting Triang ships as well- I'm up to six ships now and hope to add more. All the best. KEV.

Cheers! I used to own a couple of these when I was a teenager but have no idea where they are now,

I hope that you are enjoying your small Triang Minic ‘fleet’ as much as I am.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Looking good in B&W on the Cruel Sea. I was very jealous of a friend of mine who had a load of these toys back in the day.

    1. Maudlin Jack Tar,

For some reason, the models looked better in black & white than they did in colour.

Collecting these models really is fulfilling a childhood dream for me … and the upside is that with some judicial purchasing, it’s not costing me a fortune.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Roger,

Cheers! The models are between forty and fifty years old … and may be even older.

      All the best,

Wow, this is getting to be quite a collection! Looking at this, and back over earlier postings, I'm half regretting my coming so late to the naval wargaming oeuvre. Although my 'Mighty Armadas' 'collection' (not really a collection) I bought more than 40 years back, I've only in the last 5 years or so done anything much with them (and that largely thanks to Kev Robertson's concepts as well as your own).
Query: is your collection developing qua collection, or are they to be organised into navies, fleets and squadrons?
    Cheers,
    Ion

When I was fifteen, it was my ambition to join the Royal Navy … but poor eyesight meant that I would not be able to become a deck officer. (I was offered the possibility of becoming an engineering officer but I wanted to command a ship at some point in my career). As a result, I got into naval wargaming early on, and used to fight naval battles on the living room floor with balsawood warships.

At present, the collection is just that … but I am thinking about creating several small fleets using my Triang Minic warships. Surplus RN ships were widely sold, and the navies of the South American ABC countries certainly benefited from such purchases.

      All the best,

      Bob
