I had another rather sleepless night last night ... but this time I had no good wargaming ideas to fill my waking hours. I did do some thinking about my Imagi-world of 1891 and the possibility of using a small conflict between Britannia and Fezia on the island of Madasahatta as the background for a play-test of the latest draft of MEMOIR OF BATTLE (MOB).
The scenario I came up with involves Fezian support for a group of slaver-traders and pirates who have decided to try their luck on Madasahatta. They have chosen to set up camp on the coast just where the boundaries of the Britannic colony (New Surrey) and Fezian concession (Fezian Madasahatta) meet. When the Governor of New Surrey finds out about this, he sends a small force to 'deal' with the problem ... not knowing that the Fezians have also sent troops to the area to 'investigate'.

Send a Gunboat!
ReplyDeletePat G,
ReplyDeleteFunny that you should say that ...
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteSultan Abdul the Unprincipled will take a very dim view of the 'interference' in this rather lucrative business.
As we speak this is being debated in the divan whilst the Sultan is being regaled by the promise of a suitable FLW force to resolve the dispute....
Gunboat indeed....
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
ReplyDeleteBy the time the Sultan has got off his divan and done something about the situation, it will all be over!
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteTo be patient, to be measured in your response is to be as one of the East.
Besides, Friday is the Sultan's Kofte Kebab day and so the mere threat of something as pedestrian as an international crisis would never be allowed to interfere with his favourite repast.
The business of visiting the Sultan's displeasure on his enemies will have to wait until after his lunch.
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
ReplyDeleteIf the response is coming from the East, one wonders where it is going. To the West perhaps?
I would hate to add dyspepsia to the Sultan's other problems, so the crisis is likely to be postponed for a day or two!
All the best,
Bob
