As part of the preparations for COW2012 (the 2012 Conference of Wargamers) I have finally made some flags for my Cordeguayan Army units. Having done this, I decided that it might be a good idea to arrange a display of Cordeguay's military power, so passing before you today we have ...
The Husars de la Republica (The only regular Cavalry unit in the Army)
The Primero de Linea (The first regular Infantry Regiment)
The Guardia Civic (The army's reserve Infantry Regiment)
The 1st Colorados (The first of the army's two Native Indian Infantry Regiments)
The 2nd Colorados (The second of the army's two Native Indian Infantry Regiments)
Part of the Artillery (The Cordeguayan Artillery is very well equipped with a variety of different medium and field artillery pieces)
Time will tell if any of these units will cross swords with (or even be allied with) the forces of Forbodia or Freedonia during the next seven days ... but whatever happens, you can be sure that they will uphold the honour of Cordeguay.
Viva Cordeguay!

Freedonia is still going? Their space progra)m closed down in 2001 last I heard.
ReplyDeleteThere's a very narrow band of gamers who will get that one.
Nice one. I have used the different flag idea to add to my imaginary armies by recruiting from historical ones - did it for Gerolstein not so long ago. ACW is very versatile/
ReplyDeleteArquinsiel,
ReplyDeleteFreedonia is still going ... but as you would expect, it tries to keep itself out of the news.
All the best,
Bob
James O'Connell,
ReplyDeleteWith flags so cheap and easy to make using computer printer labels and short lengths of wire, it makes great sense to 'recruit' figures from a real country's army to serve in an imagi-nation's one.
The Union forces from the ACW are particularly useful in this respect as they can serve in a great number of real and imaginary armies.
All the best,
Bob
Have fun with these splendid fellows...
ReplyDeleteTradgardmastare,
ReplyDeleteI hope so. They are intended to be used in a lawn game at COW, but if the weather turns bad the session will be held in the large Practical Room at Knuston Hall.
I will have my camera with me during the weekend, and hope that some photographs of this session (and any others) will be appearing on my blog early next week.
All the best,
Bob
