The bump that became a hole ... is back!

My concerns about the quality of the 'repair' that was made to the road outside my neighbour's house were totally justified. The new road surface has already cracked and begun to bulge ... and water and mud are oozing out of the cracks.

I intend to report the problem (yet again!) to the local council (the Royal Borough of Greenwich) and to our local councillor. In the meantime I have set up a Facebook page about the hole in the hope that growing public interest will influence the local council and/or Thames Water to actually sort the problem out.

  1. Next thing we need is a web camera with a live feed so that fans of the hole can keep up to date in real time.

  2. Jim Duncan,

If I had the money, I would instal a webcam so that the progress of the road's disintegration could be shared across the Internet.

Until I do have enough cash, I am afraid you are going to have to rely on my regular updates.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Stu Rat,

I had hopes that the bump/hole franchise might prove to be a money spinner. For example:

    Bump I

    Bump II: The Covering

Bump III: Return of the Hole

Bump IV: The Council strikes back!

I doubt if our local councillors would have the wit to understand the irony of your suggestion ... although it is an attractive idea.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. Are you sure this isn't something to do with the Blofeld-style secret underground complex you've been working on?

Curse you! You have uncovered my evil plan to take over the world!

  6. Stu Rat,

I have one ... but it is a black short-hair not a white Persian.

  7. I think you should make a feature of the hole...perhaps market it as a magic well to bring in the tourists. You could sell them magic spring water!!!

  8. Alastair,

Silly as it may sound, the water might actually be coming from a natural spring!

Back in the eighteenth century there were plans to build a spa on the hill because of the number of natural springs that there were in the area. The development came to nothing in the end ... but springs still appear every so often, even now.

    All the best,

    Bob

  9. What was that other song from our childhood - "It all makes work for the working man to do"!!!

  10. Stryker,

Well the working man came through at last! Within the last half an hour the contractors have finished repairing the water leak (Yes ... it was a water leak!) and have back filled the hole. The road surface should be reinstated in a day or two.

    The bump/hole is (almost) gone!

    All the best,

    Bob
