I'm going to guess Strelnikov is the commissar from Dr. Zhivago... now you've made me think of that, I'm going to have to re-read it.

Bob, your book and my grandson both arrived, almost simultaneously, this morning.
ReplyDeleteNormal priorities forbade me from reading this post in time to produce some answers uninfluenced by the others.
Jim Duncan,
DeleteCongratulations on the birth of your grandson!
Thanks very much for writing the review of THE PORTABLE WARGAME on your blog. You must have had a very busy day today, and I very much appreciate the fact that you made time to write it.
All the best,
Bob
Here was I thinking that Wilhelm Frederickson might have had something to do with the House of Hohenzollern... Muhammad Sherif might have derived from Omar Sharif. If you want to make up vaguely Middle eastern names, the English language is a good source, in particular words starting with 'al-'. Many of them have arabic origins anyhow:
ReplyDeleteAl Khemi
Al Kohol
Al Falfa
Al Fresco
Al Gebra
Al Imoni
Al Iquot
Al Legro
Al Manak
Al Oud
Al Paka
Al Umnus.
I quite enjoy making up names. I think I got it from watching Les Dawson, back in the day...
Archduke Piccolo,
DeleteYou missed that Arabic master criminal off your list ... Al Kaponi!
Thanks for giving me a great excuse to have a laugh. I'm sure that the PC police will drag me away as a result ... but it will be worth it!
All the best,
Bob
