The necessary files have been uploaded to Lulu.com, and the printed proof copies of the hardback and softback editions have been ordered. Hopefully they will arrive before Christmas, and once they have been checked, the books will be released for publication.
I had intended that an eBook edition of the book would be published at the same time as the printed edition, but I've had problems converting the book into eBook format. I have therefore decided to issue the book in PDF format, and it will be released for publication when the printed books go on sale. It will only be on sale via Lulu.com, and the price will be same as the eBook version would have been.

Looks good, Bob! A pity the picture doesn't fill more of the cover, but the scarlet background colour is very eyecatching.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,

Arthur1815 (Arthur),
DeleteCheers! I hope that it does catch the eye of potential purchasers.
I've very deliberately gone for a common, somewhat 'old school' style of cover design for the PORTABLE WARGAME books, and have tried to chose basic colours for the covers that people tend to associate with the period being covered, hence the use of scarlet for this book.
All the best,
Bob
Congratulations Bob!

DeleteCheers! With luck I might just manage to publish the book by Christmas.
All the best,
Bob
I like the cover. For some reason my mind went immediately to the old Airfix Guides though the front illustrations on those were not a colour photo of minis.
ReplyDeleteRoss Mac,
DeleteThat's exactly the sort of look I was trying to achieve; slightly 'old school' because my way of doing things is inclined that way.
All the best,
Bob
I will HAVE to buy it, even though I don’t play this period.
ReplyDeleteStephen Briddon,
DeleteI'll make an announcement on my blog when the book is published.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob, Mike Lewis and I are currently basing up our 54mm Napoleonics three to a base in readiness for your rules. The cover is wonderfully evocative and I look forward to a Christmas/New Year present to myself...! Best wishes, Anthony
ReplyDeleteAnthony Morton (Anthony),
DeleteI do hope that you won't be disappointed!
The cover photograph was taken during one of the exemplar battles that are featured in the book. It shows French cavalry attacking Dutch-Belgian artillery whilst some Anglo-Brunswick troops rush forward to support the artillery.
All the best,
Bob
Good Stuff!
ReplyDeleteGeordie an Exiled FoG,
DeleteI hope that players enjoy using the rules.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob -
ReplyDeleteHaving my own ideas on Napoleonics, I've been humming and harruphing about getting the Portable Napoleonic - though it is nice just 'to collect the set'. But, on reflection, there was never going to be any doubt about it: yeah, I'll be placing an order...
At that, I rather think some of my orphaned elements might at last get to see some action!
Cheers,
Ion

DeleteI've followed your Napoleonic blog entries with great interest, and they've certainly helped me to formulate my ideas. I hope that you'll find the book's contents of interest.
All the best,
Bob
Bob,
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of color and photo for the front cover- very eye-catching. All the best with this Publication. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteCheers! I did intend to stage a photo for the cover, but in the end decided to use an image from one of the exemplar battles in the book.
All the best,
Bob
Excellent. A Christmas present that one actually wants - even if I do end up buying it for myself!
ReplyDeleteBarry Carter,
DeleteI hope that you enjoy reading the book ... once I manage to get it published.
All the best,
Bob
