Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteYes it is very interesting how Museums employ Models to convey History to tell a story and show a picture of by-gone-days...if you ever have the chance to visit New Zealand's -Auckland Maritime Museum...I can thoroughly recommend it- it shows the best comprehensive Displays I have ever seen - just superb. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteThe models showing the development of Toulon were displayed on the wall of the museum. This made them much easier to see and understand.
I’d love to visit Australia and New Zealand. One day I might manage it ...
All the best,
Bob
Interesting 3D maps - handy for designing war games sea-ports. I've not thought about the etymology of the surname 'Cordery' - rope-maker?
ReplyDeleteArchduke Piccolo,
DeleteMy first thought when I saw these models was that they’d make great wargames terrain.
Rope-maker or rope-worker is one possible origin of my surname, although others have been suggested.
All the best,
Bob
