Over the past few days, I’ve been working on redrawing Eric Knowles’s Madasahatta map using MS Paint. I started by superimposing a new square grid over a digital image of a scanned copy of a photocopy of the original map.
Once this had been completed, I used the original map as a guide as I began to draw in the northern coastline of the map ...
... and some of the inland features, such as the borders between different areas, rivers and streams, roads, hills, and oasis/marshland/jungle.
I then continued this process, mainly working down the right-hand side of the map.
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteThat is beginning to look really nice! I always thought the original was a little on the ‘fussy’ side so making it visually more user friendly will be really handy.
The way things are going this could spawn either a Madasahatta Volume 2 or even the Portable Madasahatta Wargame!
Lovely work.
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
DeleteThe original had so much detail in some areas that it is actually difficult to work our what was what. For example, I’ve just realised that I’ve confused some bits of jungle with oasis, and will need to revise them to show the differences.
With luck, the new map will be easier to understand. As to a PW Madasahatta book .. well it’s always a possibility!
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteYour version of the Map is progressing along very nicely. I like David's suggestion of a Portable Madasahatta Wargame- could form the basis of a whole New Book for you to publish. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteI’m very pleased with the way the redrawn map looks, and I think that it will be more user-friendly. As to the possibility of a PW book ... well you never know ...
All the best,
Bob
Looks good Bob. A return to Madasahatta would certainly be an interesting read in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteI hope to get the main work on the map finished by the end of the week ... and then we shall see where events take us.
All the best,
Bob
Very cool Bob, good to see a master at work. Cheers Greg

DeleteYou are too kind! I like using MS Paint, and once you have got to grips with how it works - which is not very difficult - anyone can turn out stuff like mine.
All the best,
Bob
