Mark Cordone’s naval gazing!

Some year ago I wrote GRIDDED NAVAL WARGAMES, which was the naval equivalent of my PORTABLE WARGAME. It was designed for actions involving a relatively small number of ships per side, although larger fleet actions were possible if you had enough space.

Recently, Mark Cordone has been developing his own fleet-level naval rules that use the core mechanisms from the PORTABLE WARGAME, and he has now fought his first play-test fleet action.

I have been following the development of his rules with interest, and I think that they have great potential.

  1. Did you mean navel gaming? What I love about your rules is they produce games that are fun to play, and your platform can easily be adapted to any type or scale of game one could want to play.

    2. Mark is sure right about the 'scale adaptability' of the PW concept!

I've just been building a wee flotilla of torpedo boats for the Chevenia/ Bulgarian navy. Re-reading TBs in the PNW I now realise that I have been playing the rules right but understanding them wrong. They must have sounded odd in my write-ups!

      Cheers,

    1. The Referee,

I understand that an Age of Sail version has been written by a member of the Sheffield Wargames Group. If I can find out more details, I’ll let you know.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. John Armatys,

I knew that I’d seen something somewhere, but could not for the life of me remember where! Thanks for the link; I’m sure that The Referee will find it very helpful.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. Thank you! Perfect, I have downloaded the rules and read them through. Looking forward to giving them a go. Might cobble together some rules for boarding actions and piracy.
