Other people's Portable Wargames: Archduke Piccolo's Chronicles of Rajistan

Archduke Piccolo – that stalwart Portable Wargame campaigner – has recently uploaded the most recent battle report of his CHRONICLES OF RAJISTAN series.

This battle report was entitled RETURN TO SHEIKH SA'AD ... and it tells the story of what was a real humdinger of a battle between the armies of Ruberia and Turcowaz.

This was the concluding battle of a campaign that he has been fighting on and off for just over four years, and if my regular blog readers have not read the previous battle reports, I strongly recommend that they do. They are (in chronological order):

    1. Rob Young,

Over the years the Archduke has produced some wonderful model wargame warships … including some pre-World War I Greek and Turkish navies.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. I second that. The gunboat doesn't stand out in the first picture but that closeup is aces.

    3. Mr. Pavone,

The closeup is from one of the Archduke’s earlier blog posts.

      All the best,

  2. Bob -
What a wonderful surprise! Thank you for the plug!
I will have to do a Table of Contents post very soon - the series makes, I think, a fine little narrative, and is not so very far removed from the Mesopotamian campaign of 1915-16.

I've got a lot of mileage out of the Portable Wargames concept - one of the most accessible war games systems I've run across.

Over the last four or five years, the Settee Empire of Turcowaz has come in for a lot of adventures - and there is still the second Blacklands War to prepare. But relations between Ruberia and Azuria are becoming very frayed. These are the BIG armies!

    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. Archduke Piccolo (Ion),

Thank you for your kind comments about the PW game system. They are greatly appreciated.

Writing blog posts about battle reports and campaigns like yours is a great way for me to get back into the swing of regular blogging, and I found re-reading the entire series incredibly stimulating … and thought that my regular blog readers would also enjoy them.

I look forward to reading more battle reports in the near future … and news that tension between Ruberia and Azuria is growing encourages me to think that I won’t have to wait too long.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. Thinking of what I've read in his blog over the years, I'm tempted to nominate the Archduke for the "best campaign and battle reports" award (if this actually were a thing). And thanks for the links list, it is not always easy to track these down via his "Labels".

    1. Mike Hall,

I totally agree! If there was such an award, Archduke Piccolo should be a winner.

      All the best,

      Bob

PS. I included the links to help readers look at each relevant blog post in chronological order. I gather that the Archduke will be doing something similar on his blog,

Yep: done. I found that it to be feasible to copy your T-of-C straight across and retain the links! Mike Hall's comment suggests I really must tidy up my 'system' of labels
      Thanks again!
