In between working on ARRIBA ESPANA! and doing household chores and shopping, I have been painting nine officer figures for my FUNNY LITTLE WARS/PORTABLE WARGAME ARMY BLACK. They were from the range of Franco-Prussian War figures manufactured by Irregular Miniatures and will enable me to form another five infantry units. The four ‘spare’ figures will be used as officers for artillery and machine gun units.
I’m not sure if I’ll be able to complete my ARMY BLACK project by the end of the month, but I hope to finish it soon afterwards.
Bob,
ReplyDeleteI think I'm looking forwards to your developments towards the Funny Little Wars Project- would certainly like to see the Armies on parade and in action later on. Cold here now with Winter- we're well rugged up all day- just keeping warm is a bit of a battle! Regards. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteI hope to get these latest figure (and the troops they will command) based and ‘on parade’ by the end of the week.
We are ‘enjoying’ unseasonable bad weather at the moment, with outside temperatures about 10 degrees C below normal for this time of year. We have even had our heating on to keep warm!
All the best,
Bob
Curious Summers in the UK nowadays. I kept noticing every year I visited how cold the Summers were compared to the heatwaves in the Northwest. The climate here used to be famous for having two seasons “too wet” and “too hot”. But even after 20 years I have noticed changes. And there ends the weather report. It just means for wargaming, that adaptations are necessary. I therefore offer to interested parties my 99.99 patented Wargame Room Cooling System. Ignore the copies that look like a fan, accept no substitutes.
DeleteSteve8,
DeleteThe seasons seem to becoming very similar across the year, with winters not being quite as cold as they used to be and summers not as hot most of the time … but with the occasional dramatic outbreaks of really cold/hot/very wet weather. We just have to learn to cope …
All the best,
Bob
Got any pictures?
ReplyDeleteJon S
Jon S,
DeleteI hope to have some photographs of them on my blog later this week.
All the best,
Bob
Looking forward to seeing seeing the officers...
ReplyDeleteTradgardmastare,
DeleteI have just added them to the bases of the units they will command. Once the bases are finished, I will photograph them for a blog post.
As they are much newer figures from Irregular Miniatures, the officers are slightly taller than the figures they will be 'commanding' as the latter were bought and painted back in the 1980s. This does not worry me, although I know that there are some wargamers that would find this an anathema. This project came about because I wanted to use figures that I have painted years ago and never used ... so I see the difference in the height and build of the figures as unimportant.
All the best,
Bob
