Arriba Espana! (Second edition): A further progress report

Over the weekend I have managed to make considerable progress, and the draft text of the book has been sent to several people for proof-reading and fact checking. As can be seen from the following copy of the contents page ...

... the book is split into two parts. The first part is a slightly revised version of the first edition, with some of the errors corrected and a more consistent style used. The second part contains a copy of THE PORTABLE SPANISH CIVIL WAR WARGAME rules and a number of scenarios (including ORBATs and both square and hex gridded maps) that I hope will give players some interesting battles and to provide inspiration for them to develop their own.

I hope to publish this book by the end of this month or soon afterwards. It will certainly be published in both paperback and Kindle formats, and I am looking at the possibility of publishing it in hardback and PDF formats.

  1. Bob,
Good to hear your pressing on with your projects - reaching the proof reading stage. If your past track record for Published Books is anything to go by- this book now will be a definite hit! Cheers. KEV.

I have ready had feedback from my proof readers, and made the changes they have suggested. It needs a second check, and then I can move on to the publication stage.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Hi Bob, it's looking good but without meaning to criticise, instead of having 3 sets of more or less identical divisional rules, why not just use the Brigade and Division rules for 20(or in my case 15)mm and simply increase the number of figures per base for smaller scales ? That would leave room for one of your highly informative battle reports 😁
I hope this finds you well,
    Take Care,
    Tony.

    1. Unknown (Tony),

The book started out as a simple revised, reprint of the original book, and that is what I originally planned (and promised) to do. I have, however, used the opportunity to publish a specially written version of PW alongside a number of suitable scenarios. To add some explanatory battle reports would have delayed this project, hence their absence.

      Sorry to disappoint you.

      All the best,

      Bob

    2. No worries, I suppose I'm just used to having a Battle report or two to serve as a rule example in P.W. books. But as you say, time is a factor, and I'm sure everyone is as keen as me to see it in print.
      Take Care,
      Tony.

I am sure that once the book is published, battle reports will begin to appear on the Portable Wargame Facebook page.

      All the best,

      Bob

Cheers! I’m really enjoying writing this book, and I have found creating the scenarios particularly interesting.
