More troops for the Khakistani Army are on the way

I am currently renovating some more figures for my Belle Époque project, and having repainted parts of them, I am about to begin the process of rebasing them.

The figures are 15mm Essex Miniatures Sudanese infantry that I bought ready-painted and are now wearing a mixture of brown and khaki uniforms and khaki fezzes/tarbushes and will be used to form some additional units for the army of the Sultanate of Khakistan.

Progress on renovating these figures is taking longer than expected as for most of the day it is just too hot to do anything in my wargame/toy room, so I’m confined to doing work on this project up until mid-morning. That said, I hope to finish them within a week or so … and then I can move onto the next batch.

  1. You have my sympathy on the heat wave, we've just waved goodbye to one that was driving me out of my games room.

    1. Ross Mac,

I’d love to be able to wave goodbye to our current heatwave, but we are told to expect several more days - and hotter temperatures - before we will see cooler days and some rain.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. BOB,
Good to hear you have reached the stage of re-basing your 15mm figures for Khakistan. There is no real way to escape the current heat wave- we live on a hill and when it gets very hot I open all my shed doors for a gentle breeze blowing from the smaller side door through the shed to the larger open roller door at the front - very lucky during our summer. At present it is freezing cold at night once the sun sets...the days however are warmer than usual for winter. Best Wishes. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson (Kev),

We also live on a hill, and the only way in which we can create any sort of draught is to open the winds facing the direction the wind is coming from. Unfortunately, this is usually from the west … which is the sunny side of the house from midday onwards.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. Think the lowest it's been in my shed over the last couple of weeks is 84... though I stupidly got round to doing a littlke bit of casting yesterday.

    1. Rob Young,

That’s too hot for me … and I couldn’t imagine trying to cast in an environment that was already very hot. Good luck yo you!

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Quantrilltoy,

I suspect that we would both prefer weather/temperature somewhere between the extremes we are having to cope with.

      Keep warm,

      Bob
