The first sight of my toy/wargame room in nearly six months!

Yesterday I actually managed to get into my toy/wargame room for the fist time in nearly six months ... and it looks like this:

It was also great to look at the view across London that I can see from the window of my toy/wargame room.

The room needs a bit of tidying up ... and once that is done, the fun can begin!

  1. That must have been enjoyable. not only for marking the progress in recovery. Nothing better than being reunited with stuff you have not seen in a while.

It was great to be able to walk into the room and sit down in my chair and just look around.

      All the best,

The stuff that has been dumped on the table need to be sorted out - hopefully tomorrow - and then I can get started on a project or two ... I hope!

      All the best,

It’s difficult to express my pleasure … and I hope to begin wargaming in my room soon.

Cheers! I like the very apt pun, although if you saw me walking, I don’t think that you’d be impressed!

I’ve missed both my toy/wargame room and the view. I could sit and watch the latter for hours.

  7. Bob, I’m sure the sight of your game room did more for your mental and physical health than any treatment.

    1. Steve J.,

Since we had the stairlift fitted, my mobility has increased a lot. I do get tired walking so much but I need the exercise and it is a satisfied feeling of fatigue.

      All the best,

  10. BOB,
So great for you to reach your Hobby Room at last- you certainly do have a lot of storage spaces to keep everything tidy. Bit slow here - still waiting on your OO9 Van to arrive- as soon as it does I will post all of the OO9 items. Best Wishes. KEV.

I do have quite a lot of storage but I did move a load of stuff into a storage unit just before I broke my leg.

Let me know when the final bit of 009 rolling stock arrives and we can then sort out the next stage of our arrangement.

      All the best,

      Bob

  11. Congratulations Bob, that's great news! Quite a view from up there - have you watched the city skyline change over the years, and do you have 'before' and 'after' pictures?

Cheers! The view is amazing and - as you write - I've seen it change over the years. I do have some photos that show the changes ... but I don't know where they all are.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Fitz-Badger,

It was wonderful to be able to get up to my toy/wargame room!

I specifically chose wooden cupboard with solid doors for storing wargame stuff and glass doors for use as book shelves.

      All the best,

      Bob

  13. Very tidy room Bob and great views. I remember when you could see only ships funnels in the docks! Paul.

Cheers! I like to try to work in a reasonably tidy space.

Many of my paternal family worked in and around the docks, most in dock-related or dependent industries like Tate & Lyle. One of my aunts and her family lived in a street that ran at right angles to the wall of the KGV dock, and I can remember seeing the funnels and upperworks of many cargo ship tied up alongside. I seem to remember that many of them were Blue Star Line 'reefers' involved in the import of meat from Argentina.

      All the best,

      Bob

My first task is to sort out the stuff that has been left on my table over the past six months. After that, the world is my lobster!

    1. Geordie an Exiled FoG,

On average I'm managing at least an hour a day in my toy/wargame room ... which is a great improvement!

Hopefully, as my mobility improves, I'll be using the room even more.

      All the best,

      Bob
