Despite our concerns that the tarpaulin might come adrift during the night, it was still in place when we got up at 7.30am.
The workmen arrived a little later than usual this morning (at 9.05am) as they had to stop off on the way to our house to collect some materials that they needed. They worked extremely hard all day, and by the time they finished at 4.15pm they had completed most of the boxing-in around the pipework and had installed all the new glass roof panels.
The conservatory now looked like this:
They hope to finish the installation (including making good the plasterwork) by the end of tomorrow, and if they do they will be one day ahead of the projected schedule.

It's really starting to look like something, though, eh? That will be a great room on a sunny winter's day!
ReplyDeleteArchduke Piccolo,
ReplyDeleteIt is coming along very nicely indeed!
The room faces south-west, which means it gets the sun for most of the day ... when it shines.
All the best,
Bob
Its looking great and you will both be so glad to have it finished.
ReplyDeleteL shaped buildings in last post coming along nicely.
Tradgardmastare,
ReplyDeleteWe are both looking forward to getting our house back to what passes for 'normal', but the disruption looks as if it will have been more than worth it.
I am pleased with both the new construction method I am using and the general 'look' of the buildings. Once they are based and painted I am hoping that they will look even better.
All the best,
Bob

ReplyDeleteLooks neat.
But, now, well, sunlight. You see, it warms things up a bit. Fades colours and makeup, removes moisture, definitely leaves one very uncool, wilted even.
Mind you, some colourful beach umbrellas inside there will look cheerful - how is it spacewise?
Or are you taking some other precautions? (not sure that looks right somehow).
Regards
Arthur,
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons why we chose the particular glass that they have fitted is because it has an inbuilt filter that helps control the temperature inside the conservatory.
We are looking at the possibility of fitting roof blinds that we can use during the hottest weather ... which is probably once or twice a year in the UK!
The conservatory is split into two parts. The larger end (which is used as a sitting room) is approximately 11' x 14' and the other (which is used as a utility area) is approximately 11' x 6'.
All the best,
Bob
