Baltic warships: Part 3: Stockholm

During our stay in Stockholm we saw the city's namesake patrol boat (ex-corvette), HSwMS Stockholm.




When they were built in the mid 1980s the class was rated as covettes, but after they were modernised at the turn of the century, they became patrol boats.

The design's characteristics are:
  • Displacement: 380 tons
  • Dimensions:
    • Length: 50.0m
    • Beam: 7.5m
    • Draft: 2.6m
  • Propulsion: 2 × MTU diesel engines and 1 × Allied Signal gas turbine engine
  • Speed: 30.0 knots
  • Complement: 35
  • Armament: 1 × Bofors 57mm MKII gun; 4 × RBS15 Mk2 anti-ship missiles; Mines & depth charges

  • Electronic systems and sensors: Sea Giraffe 50HC air/surface search radar; 9LV 300 missile control radar; SS304 Spira HMS sonar; TSM 2642 MF variable depth sonar
  • Electronic warfare and decoys: Rheinmetall TKWA/MASS (Multi Ammunition Softkill System)
