The Portable Wargame Ancients version: the correct corrected third draft

Yesterday I wrote that ‘It always pays to proof-read anything before you make it public ... .’ The only problem is that I managed to do exactly the same thing yet again … and yet again I have Steven Page to thank for pointing out my error!

The corrected CORRECT third draft of the rules can be downloaded here.

You are starting to remind me of Robert the Bruce and the spider!

  2. Robert the Bruce sat on a tuffet?
    Eating his curds and whey?

  3. Jim Duncan,

I understand that Robert the Bruce had a saying that 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!'. It put me in mind of the time that I heard Michael Grade say that his uncle Lew Grade's version of the saying was 'If at first you don't succeed ... you're fired!'.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. SAROE,

Are you mixing up your Bruces and your Muffets?

If you are, it sounds like a recipe for a disaster!

    All the best,

  5. In our part of the world Robert the Bruce is more famous for saying:

"For as long as one hundred of us shall remain alive,
we shall never in any wise consent submit to the rule of the English,
for it is not for glory we fight, nor riches, or for honour,
but for freedom alone, which no good man loses but with his life."

  6. Jim Duncan,

Sounds like a slogan that the Scots Nats could use in the run-up to the forthcoming referendum.

    All the best,

  7. Words such as those above have often been quoted in the last 80 years or so in my country and will be quoted again no doubt in the near future.

  8. Jim Duncan,

I suspect that were the whole of the UK population allowed to vote in the referendum, Scotland would be granted her independence.

    All the best,

    Bob

  10. Jim Duncan,

This is beginning to sound like the scenario for a VBCW set in the present day!
