Just my luck ...

Winter is over, Spring has arrived, the weather has begun to improve ... and I have managed to come down with a rotten cold.

Just my luck ... and it has happened on a day when I had planned to fight a couple of battles as part of a mini-campaign. Hopefully the cold will go as quickly as it arrived; in the meantime I will try to get as much time in the sun as I can and drink lots of fluids.

  1. Hope you feel better soon. These varying temperatures don't help!

  2. Legatus Hedlius,

    Thanks for your best wishes.

I seem to have had one cold after another this year, and I suspect that you are right about the constantly varying temperatures not helping matters.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. In Edinburgh this last week has been the warmest of the year yet today it was snowing, not a lot but still snowing.

Hope you feel better soon Bob.

  6. Jim Duncan,

I suspect that quite a few people would put that sort of variable weather down to climate change.

A few years ago Sue and I were booked to go on a cruise at about this time of year. We woke up at 6.00am ... and the sky was very overcast ... and then it started to snow. By the time we left home at 8.00am I had to remove over six inches of snow from the car. We followed the snow plough around the M25 and along the M3. We stopped at Winchester Services for breakfast ... and when we left to continue our journey the snow had begun to melt, and by midday - when we went aboard in Southampton - it had gone.

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. David Crook,

I was really looking forward to fighting the next battle (or battles) of my mini-campaign today, but it was not to be. Hopefully I will feel a lot better soon ... and then I can get some terrain and figures out and onto the tabletop!

    All the best,

    Bob

  8. Tradgardmastare (Alan),

Thanks very much for your best wishes.

With luck this cold will go as quickly as it came ... and then I can fight the next battle - or battles - if my mini-campaign.

    All the best,

    Bob

  9. Having a sick day off play is just not the same as a sick day off work. I hope it passes soon.

  10. Ross Mac,

How very, very true! Now that I am retired and every day is like a holiday, I really resent not feeling like fighting a wargame when I want to.

    All the best,

    Bob

  12. Kev,

I had a good night's sleep, and feel a bit better today. In fact I would still have been sleeping if the cat hadn't wanted to the fed and decided to come and wake me up to feed it!

Snow in May would be very unusual ... but with the weather the way it is at the moment, who knows what it will be like.

    All the best,

    Bob

PS. I hope that you enjoy your trip.

  13. Johntheone,

Thanks very much for your best wishes. I felt a bit better when I got up this morning, but as the day has gone on the cold has got worse again. I had hoped that the cold will go as quickly as it arrived ... but it hasn't.

    All the best,

    Bob

Cheers! With luck - and a lot of hope - I should feel better tomorrow ... and then I can get a few things done.

    All the best,
