We've been away again!

Yesterday Sue and I returned from a short (two-week) but interesting cruise that took in Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, and Morocco, and later this week I will be writing a detailed blog entry about what we saw and did.

We had visited some of the places before, but Morocco was our first venture to Africa ... and it was somewhat different from what we had expected. Bad weather prevent us from getting into Cartagena, and we had to make two unscheduled stops in La Coruña – one on the way out and one on the way back – due to medical emergencies.

During the cruise I actually began to write my next PORTABLE WARGAME book and with luck this should be finished in three or four month's time. I also did some reading (not as much as expected), went to some interesting lectures, and saw quite a few warships ... about which I will write blog entries in due course.

  2. I look forward to reading this. My brother spent his honeymoon in Morocco, mainly up in the mountains and said it was a fascinating place once you had escaped from the tourist traps.

Lindsay and I did our first foray to Africa last year when we went to SA. Our eldest daughter has done masses of travelling there and loves it. It is however still a place of extremes - the poor are still living in terrible conditions.

    1. Guy,

I hope to complete and publish that travelblog entry tomorrow.

We visited the Medina in Casablance, and found that the offers of taxis and guides was no worse than it is in most of the places we have been to ... and better than quite a few.

We have yet to visit anywhere else in Africa, but we have friends who have been to South Africa several times, and their comments were similar to yours; a country of extreme contrasts that has a unique beauty.

      All the best,

      Bob
