Lulu.com sent me my latest book sales figures a couple of days ago, and they look like this:
It still astounds me to see that most of my books continue to sell reasonably well, with both THE PORTABLE WARGAME and DEVELOPING THE PORTABLE WARGAME remaining the best sellers.
Considering that I never expected to sell more than ten or so copies of THE MADASAHATTA CAMPAIGN, it has sold fifty copies, even though it is only available as a hardback. One of the latest books I have published is GRIDDED NAVAL WARGAMES which was always likely to sell less well that the other two books for the Portable Wargame stable, but I am pleased to see that its sales are reasonably buoyant, and it shows signs of being a steady seller.

Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteThat is good news re the Madasahatta book and as you rightly point out - rather surprising. In respect of your Gridded Naval Wargames book - was the word buoyant the most appropriate....lol
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
DeleteEvery time I look at my book sales figures I am amazed at how many I have sold. I am particularly surprised at how well THE MADASAHATTA CAMPAIGN has sold, but the feedback indicates that Eric was better known than I think I had realised and the campaign has acquired an almost mythical reputation amongst wargamers of a certain age.
All the best,
Bob
Bob,
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that the 'Madasahatta' Book is going well- perhaps it is because Gamers are looking for that something special in the way of how to run a Fictional Campaign- perhaps this is the draw card. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson,
DeleteI've no idea why the book has sold so well. It may be nostalgia for a previous age ... or it may be that it is a bit of escapism that appeals to wargamers.
All the best,
Bob
You should be quite stoked by the robust sales of TPW!
ReplyDeleteJonathan Freitag,
DeleteThe fact that sales of all the PW books is going well would seem to show that a lot of wargamers like simple, easy to use rules. Let's hope that this trend continues.
All the best,
Bob
Bob, your book sales are well-deserved, may they evermore increase!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Anthony
Anthony Morton (Anthony),
DeleteThanks very much for your kind words. I'm just about to start work on my next book, but unfortunately it will not be wargaming-related. Once that is done and dusted I intend to begin work on my PORTABLE NAPOLEONIC WARGAME book, with the hope that I will be bale to publish it by Christmas.
All the best,
Bob
Bob,
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that sales of Gridded Naval Wargames are 'buoyant'!
Hopefully your Napoleonic Portable Wargaming will sell steadily for more than a hundred days...
Lokking forward to it!
Regards, Arthur
Arthur Harman (Arthur),
DeleteI was rather pleased with that choice of phrase with regard to my naval wargames book!
Im hoping that the Napoleonic book will take les than one hundred days to write, and will sell for a lot longer!
All the best,
Bob
