Spanish warships seen in harbour in Cartagena

During our cruise in March 2018, Sue and I visited Cartagena (one of our favourite ports) and I was able to photograph some ships of the Spanish Navy that were moored there. These images have been sitting in a file since then, and during a tidy-up of my computer files, I found them.

The ships were all smaller units of the Spanish Navy, which nevertheless perform useful functions.

El Camino Español-class Transport Vessel
This Ro-Ro ship was formerly operated by the Spanish Army until 2000 to provide it with a limited transport/sealift capability.

Chilreu-class Patrol Vessels
The Spanish Navy currently operates four ships of this class. Although they are grouped together as a single class, the individual ships are all different from one another although they all perform the same function.

Toralla-class Patrol Boats
The Spanish Navy has two of these faster in-shore patrol boats based in Cartagena.

Segura-class Minehunters
The design of these vessels is based on that of the Sandown-class that are operated by the Royal Navy, the Royal Saudi Navy, and the Estonian Navy.
