Will we ever be free of this awful virus?

Back in early January, I wrote about Sue and I feeling under the weather due to a 'flu-like virus that was doing the rounds. Since then we seem to have experienced a cycle of feeling better ... and then feeling unwell again. It is probably just as well that I didn't go to Cavalier on Sunday as by that afternoon Sue and I could hardly stay awake.

After a rather disturbed night's sleep, Sue and I were feeling a bit better and went out to do some much-needed shopping on Monday morning ... but by the time were got home, we were both feeling exhausted. I did manage to do a bit of preparation for the game I am planning to put on at Dice on the Hill on Wednesday evening, but the effort left me so tired that I fell asleep in my armchair from 4.00pm until after 5.00pm.

I am determined not to miss my planned game on Wednesday, so Sue and I plan to stay indoors today, keep hydrated, and sleep as and when we feel tired. With luck this will help to break the virus's grip and we can finally look forward to a spell of better health.

    1. Mark Cordone,

What is really getting us down is the fact that one minute you feel fine, and next minute you feel awful.

This afternoon the sun was shining so we decided to brave the outdoors and go for a walk in Greenwich Park. We can back feeling tired, but the fresh air more than compensated for it, and we both got home feeling much better than we had for days.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Bob, I live your pain. Since my bout with COVID, last summer, I have not felt my usual self.

My best wishes to you and your wife in recovering from this as best you are able.

    1. Justin Penwith,

When we first came down this virus we were confused. We had both had our COVID booster and seasonal ‘flu jabs, so we knew it was not either of those … and yet the symptoms felt like it was one or the other.

Yesterday we went for a walk in Greenwich Park, and although it was physically tiring, it gave both of us a mental boost … and we will certainly do this again.

I hope that you feel better soon.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. Sorry to hear that Bob. It can be really frustrating, especially as you always seem to have lots on your agenda.
I had something similar last year. Eventually it went, but I'm still careful not to get overtired.
    All the best.

    1. Nundanket,

The most annoying thing is that the impact of the virus is so unpredictable. You can feel perfectly fine one minute … and exhausted the next! If I try to plan something, I have to accept that my plans may well be thrown into disarray without any warning.

Luckily, I have managed to get a lot of small bits and pieces done over the past couple of days. This was very satisfying.

I hope that you stay well.

      All the best,

      Bob
