A visit to our storage unit yields a lot of useful surprises (2)

The contents of the second REALLY USEFUL BOX I brought home from the storage unit included:

Four scratch-built coastal defence guns and three scratch-built Vickers Six-ton tanks. The latter were built using the hulls of Airfix Universal Carriers.
Three Minifig American Civil War gunners (painted up as Confederates), two Peter Laing Miniatures cannons, and ten painted Peter Laing Miniatures World War I figures (nine infantry and a Vickers machine gun and crewman.
A whole gun park of Peter Laing Miniatures World War I artillery pieces! Six German and nine Russian field guns.
More Peter Laing Miniatures artillery pieces ... and two Essex Miniatures guns, a field gun and a Gatling machine gun.
Eight Peter Laing Miniatures artillery limbers.
Thirty-one painted Peter Laing Miniatures draught horses!

Lots of stuff that I can use with my Belle Époque project!

  2. Bob -
It's like discovering a whole new treasure trove isn't it? Stuff not seen, stashed away for eons, forgotten - and then, discovery! a whole hoard of Good Things. I felt much the same way when, every half-decade or so, I'd take a look at my Byzantines or my 30YW figures. I'm glad now that in the last couple of years I finally did something with those armies...

I reckon you are having a very happy Christmas already!
    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. Archduke Piccolo (Ion),

There’s even more interesting stuff to come!

Finding this stuff in storage was like being given an early Christmas present … and I’ve got lots of ideas as to how I am going to use what I have rediscovered.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. My equivalent are boxes full of homecasting moulds, ready to answer the call to arms when needed.

    1. Ross Mac,

Funnily enough, I found my homecasting moulds for my 30mm SCW figures in a draw a few days ago. Like yours, they are a nice thing to have in reserve.

      All the best,

      Bob

  4. Have you got enough artillery there Bob?! The Peter Lang guns and figures are particularly nice.

    1. Martin Rapier,

Both my father and maternal grandfather were gunners and I live in Woolwich … so, I can never, ever have too many guns!

      All the best,

      Bob

PS. If only Peter Laing’s figures were still available …

  5. Very impressive Vickers tank scratchbuilding. Good to see Peter Laing figures and artillery train on display and soon to be in action? (I have been having a sort through of mine for the New Year.)

    1. Mark, Man of TIN,

I needed the tanks for my long-gone Chaco War project … so I built them from what I had to hand.

I hope to see all this stuff in action one day, but I’m not sure how soon that will be.

      All the best,

      Bob
