I managed to find four more 1/1200th-scale ironclads on sale on eBay ... and could not resist buying them!
I am now the proud owner of models of HMS Belleisle, ...
... HMS Rupert, ...
... HMS Nile, ...
... and HMS Collingwood.
This brings the size of my collection to eight models ... and I suspect that it will continue to grow.

BOB,
ReplyDeleteExcellent Iron Clad models- look forward to the additional models. All the best. KEV.
Kevin Robertson (Kev),
DeleteThe small collection is growing ... and has the great advantage of being good to look at and easy to store!
All the best,
Bob
BOB,
DeleteOn another matter- What do you intend to achieve with the map of Sodor- will you be doing an OO9 Layout? KEV.
Kevin Robertson (Kev),
DeleteThere's a narrow gauge railway on Sodor, and that's what I am thinking of basing a layout on.
All the best,
Bob
Those all look very nice. Are these manufactured or scratch built?
ReplyDeleteWEK 3,
DeleteCheers! They were manufactured by Triton (Belleisle), Hai (Rupert & Collingwood), and Mercator (Nile).
All the best,
Bob
Hello there Bob,
ReplyDeleteNow they are things of beauty and no mistake! I have a feeling that Eric’s collection also features a Nile which featured in Madasahatta although I stand to be corrected.
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
DeleteI think that Eric had a model of HMS Nile in his collection … although it might have been her sistership, HMS Trafalgar.
At present, I have no plan to wargame with my models … but who knows?
All the best,
Bob
Bob -
DeleteEek! No wargame with those fine looking vessels? How sad is that?!
Meanwhile, IZN 'Aurora' is under construction - a very approximate model. Still wanting its funnels and masts, and I have an idea it carried a steam pinnace. I might include one...
Cheers,
Ion
Archduke Piccolo (Ion),
DeleteI have no plans for using them for wargaming - as yet - but it might be on the cards in the future!
I look forward to seeing your model of the IZN Aurora once it is finished.
All the best,
Bob
A handsome flotilla! At the scale you gave, they should be around 2.5" long or so?
ReplyDeleteMr. Pavone,
DeleteCheers! The scale works out at 1" = 100ft, so most of the models are between 2.5" and 3.5" long.
All the best,
Bob
