Will I get a chance to wargame soon?

Whilst I was driving back from Herne Bay this afternoon (Yes! You guessed right! My wife and I have yet again been doing some more house clearing today!) I began to think about the last time I actually managed to fight a wargame; not write blog entries about wargaming; not plan a wargame; not write a new draft of some wargames rules; not sort out my toy/wargames room; no ... actually fight a wargame.

The answer is ... longer ago that I thought. In actual fact it was Wednesday 7th September ... nearly three months ago! No wonder that I am feeling a bit jaded and in need of my wargaming 'fix'.

Mind you, my wife and I have had a lot of things to deal with since September, and it is little wonder that I have not been able to set aside enough time to actually get some terrain and figures together and fight a battle. That said, we seem to be coming to the end of that period of our lives, and the prospects are beginning to look a bit brighter. I hope to get my toy/wargames room sorted out by this time next week ... and then I hope to celebrate with a wargame!

  1. Should you find yourself at a loose end on the 13th Dec (our only meeting that month) we would love to see you at the MHWC. Its our Christmas game and we have organised a special zombie game with a prize for the survivor. It is a very informal game and you will be very welcome. That said, any second or fourth tuesday you find yourself at a loose end come and see us. We would be very interested in your portable wargame.

  2. Leofwine Wargamerson,

Many thanks for the kind offer but I am already booked up for that evening.

I hope to make it to a Tuesday evening meeting of your club at some time in the new year.

    All the best,

    Bob

  3. Hi Bob,

Wow! That is a long time but not surprising given recent events.

Of course the revamped 'den' should be celebrated with a suitable action - perhaps based on recently redrafted MoB rules or possible even a 1930s bash depending on how the mood takes you.

Either way it will be great to share the fun when you post the after action report in your usual style!

Roll on next week I say!

    All the best,

    DC

  5. David Crook,

It was a lot longer than I had realised ... which I suppose only goes to show how busy my wife and I have been of late.

I have no idea what shape or form the wargame will take ... but the new draft of MOB may well be high on the list of ‘possibles’ and very likely to be a ‘probable’!

Needless to say, I will try to capture some of the flavour of the game in a blog entry.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. Tradgardmastare,

It gives me a deadline to try to work to ... and even if the wargame is only a small one, I will certainly try to write about it on my blog.

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. Perhaps look at it as an early xmas present?

I will certainly think of it as a Christmas present to myself!
