I managed to finish the text of the book and sent if off to be proof read by the contributors ... and they have already begun to give me their feedback. They have spotted a few changes that have to be made, and one has suggested reordering the chapters into a more chronological order. This makes perfect sense, and I will be looking at doing that later today.
The book was a bit bare (other than for some maps and a few line drawings) but I am now in a position to include some photographs, courtesy of the contributors and David Crook. He has kindly taken some of his newly-arrived 28mm-scale WoFun printed plexiglass figures ... and as the following photograph shows, mighty fine they look.
Now that the UK has moved into its second national lockdown of the year, I hope to accelerate work on this latest book so that it can be published before Christmas.
This really looks nice. I am strongly tempted not only to acquire the book (which features prominently on my mental wishlist) but to give the Wofuns a try.

I can't get past the white edges on the WoFun figures. Now I've noticed them, I can't see anything else.

DeleteI think that it is all a matter of personal perception and/or taste. I don’t see the edges in the way you do, so I don’t find them problematic. I still like my 3D toy soldiers, but I’m thinking of buying some for a new project that I have in mind.

There’s no chance of me rushing to publication! Once I’ve made the changes requested by the contributors, I’ll send them a final draft for their approval. Once I have that, I’ll begin the process of publishing the book. From past experience, that will probable quite a few hours of work to get it done right. I then have to order printed proof copies, and once I’ve received them and checked them, they will be released for publication,

DeleteThe reenactment map shows the area over which the original battle took place. It will be accompanied in the book by a map showing the programmed moves of the reenactment groups as well as 8 x 8 square grid and 9 x 8 hex grid PW tabletop battlefield maps.

DeleteBob has provided squared and hexed versions of my maps to accompany the scenario.
My maps represent the participants' prior knowledge of the area and the plan agreed for the reenactment battle, rather than the layout for the tabletop game. They could be given to players with their personal briefings.

DeleteThe book tends to concentrate on the Pike & Shot wars of the seventeenth century (the Thirty Years War, the English Civil War, and the Monmouth Rebellion), but there is not reason why they could not be used for the latter part of the sixteenth century.
