Nearly over ...

It took me longer than I expected, but I have nearly finished rationalising the storage of my modelling paint and tools. They are now in an eight-draw REALLY USEFUL BOXES unit that is mounted on castors so that it can be moved around my toy/wargame room. It is presently next to where I usually sit, which means that everything I need when I am painting and modelling is now within arms reach.

I still have a few bits and pieces that I need to sort out, but that should take me less than thirty minutes to do ... and then I can finish off the two half-finished tanks that were the starting point of this task.

  1. It's amazing how just getting the bits sorted into a more logical fashion makes such a difference. No more time lost "looking" for something, rather time is spent preparing models or better yet, for the actual gaming.

Not to mention that getting things organised is a real sense of accomplishment. Keeping it organised more so.

    1. Anthony,

I have already noticed how much easier it has been to do something ... and the effort involved has been worthwhile.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. Hello there Bob,

Definitely with Anthony on this one! Now that I have reorganised the man cave it feels a whole more efficient in terms of putting my hands on the bits and pieces I need so less time sent looking and more time painting/modelling/gaming (delete as applicable!).

If I may make an observation I genuinely believe that this task you have undertaken has had a value greater than merely tidying up - it represents a significant step in your recovery process so it is a win win all round!

    All the best,

    DC

    1. David Crook,

This morning I did a bit of painting ... and was actually able to reach everything I needed without leaving my chair!

I must admit that I think that you are right about the psychological impact of my sort out/tidy up. I am feeling far more positive today, hence my actually getting some painting done and sorting out a couple more vehicles to do next.

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. Hi Bob,
Glad your on the mend and up to re-organizing things - it goes to make you feel better and more comfortable when doing the modelling tasks. All my paints and brushes are on one shelf in a dust proof timber cupboard in my shed- haven't done any painting or modelling this year- I may start a Project soon when I decide what funds I can devote to it. Have a great week there in London. Regards. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson (Kev),

Having everything close to hand in already paying dividends, and besides the two half-finished tanks that were sitting on my worktable waiting to be finished, I have started work on three other vehicles to add to my Easter Front/Great Patriotic War collection.

      Keep safe and keep well,

      Bob

  4. I am impressed with your organisation and energy Bob. My 'immediate action' paints are still in a 20 year old shoe box held together with gaffer tape, and the rest are stored in a drawer.

    1. Martin Rapier,

I am by nature a bit disorganised ... which is why I try to be organised when it comes to work and wargaming! In fact, I’ve been accused of being a bit too organised at times!

      All the best,

      Bob
