That pesky virus/bug is back again, but its effects are somewhat reduced!
I half expected that this would happen as several other people have mentioned this boomerang effect in blog posts and comments … and in several cases, it lasted on and off for several weeks.
As part of my strategy to cope with the debilitating effects of the virus/bug, I have decided to set myself three wargame-related priorities, one short-term, one medium-term, and one long-term. There are, respectively :
- Complete the next Portable Wargame Compendium by the beginning of November so that it can be published in time for Christmas.
- Write a set of World War II rules for the Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War that I can use with my vehicle and figure collection.
- Complete renovating my Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War collection.
This means that I don’t expect to do very much with my Belle Époque collection for the next few months … although that might well change if my interest in my medium- and long-term priorities flags at some point.
It's good to have a plan Bob and I like your 3 level planning system - I may set targets like that myself and see if I get something done! Hope the bug is short-lived
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteIt was when I realised just how debilitating this virus/bug was that I made the decision to set myself three objectives or goals that I could concentrate on.
I hope that it works!
All the best,
Bob
BOB,
ReplyDeleteCertainly a good idea to come up with a workable plan- I hope to build a model OO9 Farmhouse tomorrow using Brick Papers which I have not used before. Stay well my Friend. Regards. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteThanks very much for your best wishes.
I’d rather have a plan that I don’t necessarily adhere to that to have no plan.
I saw the very nice 009 locomotive you are going to use … and I am very jealous! Good luck with using brick paper. I’ve only ever used it on one of my wife’s dolls houses.
All the best,
Bob
Hopefully you will rebound quickly. It's always good to have a list. Going to try your hand at some Dominion style rules for the Eastern Front?
ReplyDeleteMark Cordone,
DeleteI hope that the virus/bug will ‘disappear’ by the end of next week … but who knows?
I’d not considered developing an Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War version of the ‘Dominion of …’, but it might be something that’s worth thinking about.
All the best,
Bob

ReplyDeleteSeems your spirits are setting the bug at defiance! Looking forward to seeing your East Front thing going. I'd suggest you stick with your Portable WW2 or Hexblitz game systems. I rather think one gets a lot out of one's collections with those systems. I have out of mine!
Cheers,
Ion

DeleteI am determined not to let the virus/bug get the better of me ... but sometimes it seems to be winning!
I am doing a lot of reading of old wargame books that have influenced my World War II wargaming, and I'll be writing a blog post about this in a few day's time. I suspect that I will end up using either my PW rules, my HEXBLITZ rules, or my earlier RED FLAGS AND IRON CROSSES rules ... or some sort of hybrid of them.
All the best,
Bob
Good to see that you're not letting the bug keep you down Bob. I like the idea of long/medium/short-term plans. Might think of something along similar lines.

DeleteI don't like being ill, but this virus/bug seems to be a real b*gg*r to shake off ... but I am determined to shake it off as best I can!
Setting three objectives seemed to me to be the best way for me concentrate my efforts and be more productive ... especially at a time when I was feeling particularly prone to fatigue.
All the best,
Bob
