Zvezda T-34/76

I have been very busy today, but this afternoon I had a few minutes to spare so I thought that I would take a look inside the box of one of the 1:100th-scale Zvezda model T-34/76s that I bought some time ago. There were only a few parts, and in a matter of moments I had carefully cut them off the sprue and glued them together ... and had a completed model!

Assembly was very simple, and the parts fitted together very easily, with only a few dots of glue necessary to hold the pieces in place. From opening the box to finishing assembly took less than five minutes ... which probably makes it the quickest model I have ever built!

If the rest of the Zvezda models are as simple to put together, I can see myself buying quite a few over the next few months!

  1. And just what do you intend to do with this T34 may I ask?

Joking apart, how does it scale with 15mm models, assuming you have some somewhere?

  2. I have one too, built for a participation game. It's a very neat little model.

  3. I have several of the BT-5s. They're really nice models and easy to build as well.

  4. Completely appropriate that it should be so easy to build, don't you think Bob?

Now for maximum authenticity, you should roll your unpainted T-34 out of its box to fight the Fascist hordes as they approach their final objective :O)

  5. Jim Duncan,

It is all part of my long-term plan to fight a large-scale Eastern Front/Great Patriotic War campaign.

It certainly looks all right alongside my 15mm-scale figures.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. Tim Gow,

I was very pleasantly surprised at both how easy it was to build and how good it looked.

I look forward to building more Zvezda models in due course.

    All the best,

    Bob

  7. Trebian,

The thought that I can sit down and build a large number of excellent models in a couple of hours is great ... and the selection of models they are selling (and have planned) is very comprehensive.

    All the best,

    Bob

  8. Chris Kemp,

The only thing that is wrong with the model is that it is too neat! All the T-34s that I have seen seem to have been quite badly put together, with welding used to fill in gaps where armour plate met.

I have not painted the model yet ... and after your comment I may leave it 'as is' until after the Siege of Leningrad and the Battle for Stalingrad.

    All the best,

    Bob

  9. Should you just spray it steel color? I thought they were rolling them out of the factory unpainted right into the battle.

  10. Bill,

It is one colour scheme option that is under consideration!

    All the best,

    Bob
