'Hello boys! I'm back!'

If you have been wondering why my blog entries dried up towards the end of July, wonder no more ... I have been on a cruise!

I have been writing a long blog entry about my cruise as it has been happening, but thanks to the very erratic (and very, VERY expensive) satellite Internet connection that the cruise ship had, I have not added it to my blog as yet. I hope to do so sometime over the weekend (visits to my father and father-in-law permitting), and I think that there will be a few things that will be of interest to regular blog readers. In the meantime, however, the unpacking (and washing) needs to be done as well as some rather necessary food shopping.

Holidays are great whilst you are on them ... but they do help you appreciate how nice it is to be home when they are over.

PS. Does anyone recognise the quote I used for the title of this blog entry? A pat on the back to the first reader who can name the film it is from ... and the actor who said the line!

  1. JWH,

    Absolutely correct!

My favourite quote from the film is Will Smith's 'Welcome to Earth!', which he delivers just as he punches the alien pilot in the face.

    All the best,

    Bob

Many thanks for your welcome back.

I am feeling great, and I am looking forward to getting into the swing of wargaming and blogging again.

  5. Welcome back, Bob!

I've missed having your blog to read and the stream of portable wargame ideas to consider.

I'm sure Mae West must have said that in one of her films...

  6. Welcome back Bob. Wargaming Miscellany has been sorely missed over the last couple of weeks.

  10. Tradgardmastare (Alan),

It is great to be back. I had not realised how much I enjoyed blogging, both as a writer and a reader!

I have been to at least one place that I think would interest you, so you might enjoy reading the long blog entry about my cruise that I have yet to upload (it is quite long and has a lot of pictures).

    All the best,

    Bob

  11. Arthur1815,

I have had lots of ideas about the Portable Wargame whilst I have been away, but have yet to put them down on paper in any coherent form. Methinks I did relax too much!

Mae West said a lot of things to a lot of boys .... but in this case it was Randy Quaid in 'Independence Day'.

    All the best,

    Bob

  12. Dr Vesuvius,

Many thanks for your welcome back.

I suspect that I have missed writing my blog even more than my regular readers have missed reading it!

    All the best,

    Bob

  13. Maximus Gluteus (Dick),

Thanks for the double welcome back!

Now that I am back and have read about the 'riots' (or - more truthfully - simple looting) that have taken place in London over the past week, I can see why people might have been worried. My local area was affected, but not quite as much as elsewhere in London.

Anyway, it is great to be back and blogging.

    All the best,

    Bob

  14. Arthur,

Many thanks for your good wishes. My wife and I had a great time, and we have already booked our next two cruises ... but despite that, it is great to be home again.

    All the best,

    Bob

PS. 'Payback can be such a bitch' sounds like a quote, but I don't know where from. Is it from a song?

It is the next line from the movie, far as I can recall.

Bit like "Willows whiten, aspens quiver" but what's the next line?

Nice one! I knew it sounded familiar ...

Great to have you back online once again! I hope the r and r was good for recharging the creative batteries and that you both are chilled and fully energised.

  18. David Crook,

Thanks for the warm welcome back.

The cruise has done both my wife and I a power of good ... and I have come back with a few ideas that I hope to develop over the coming months.

    All the best,

    Bob
