I made my first visit to the Historic Dockyard, Chatham, in 2001 and have discovered some photographs that I took of HMS Gannet at a much earlier stage of her restoration.
I even managed to find a photograph of HMS Gannet as she looked at the end of the nineteenth century.
During her service, HMS Gannet was rearmed. Her original main armament was retained but her secondary armament (four 64-pounder MLR guns) were replaced by two 5-inch BLR guns, and at the time of my visit these were being stored ashore.
