My latest books sales figures

April saw my book sales continue to rise slowly but surely ... and sales of THE PORTABLE WARGAME finally broke the two thousand copies sold barrier!

In April, my book sales looked like this:

This month they look like this:

I always knew that my Masonic books would never sell particularly well as they are aimed at a such very niche market (you would have to be a Hertfordshire Mason and a member of Hertfordshire Masters' Lodge No.4090 and/or The Grove Park Lodge No.2732 to find them of much interest), but it is great to see that almost all my other books seems to sell a few extra copies each month.

  1. Congratulations on the continuing steady sales.

One thing I deduce from these figures is that Lulu's PDF ebooks are relatively less popular than Epub and/or Kindle versions, possibly because a lot of people buy from Amazon and so don't see the PDF version?

I actually don't like PDFs save where a fixed page format is really necessary so I only have the paperback version of the Portable Napoleonic book and it may be that others feel the same. Your other Portable books reside on both my shelves and my Kindle.

    1. Mike Hall,

I am sure that your deduction is correct, and that sales of THE PORTABLE NAPOLEONIC WARGAME would grow if it was available via Amazon and other online retailers in an electronic format.

I would love to make THE PORTABLE NAPOLEONIC WARGAME available in a format that could be read on a Kindle (and similar devices), but the last time I checked, Lulu.com had not yet sorted out the software problems that we stopping the book being converted in the right file format. I've tried to do the conversion using alternative software (as recommended by Lulu.com), but it does not seem to work properly. Once the problems are solve, the book will be published in a Kindle/eBook compatible format.

      All the best,

      Bob

  2. HI Bob,
It is interesting to see and note that your hardback book 'The Madasahatta Campaign' topping the list of HB sales at 91..this must be very pleasing for you as a tribute to Eric. I have a certain feeling that your yet to be completed 'Colonial' book may well be an excellent seller- if not THE best!. Here is hoping for you. Regards. KEV.

    1. Kev Robertson,

The fact that THE MADASAHATTA CAMPAIGN has sold so well in hardback is very, very pleasing. As you comment, it is a very apt tribute to Eric Knowles, who was one of the less well-known pioneers of wargaming in the UK.

Work on my Colonial book is progressing slowly, mainly because I am getting my session for COW2019 ready. That will take place in early July, but I want to make sure that I am fully prepare at least a month ahead to allow for any last minute problems.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Maudlin Jack Tar,

Producing THE MADASAHATTA CAMPAIGN book was a labour of love, and a fitting tribute to Eric Knowles.

Work is progressing slowly but surely on THE PORTABLE COLONIAL WARGAME book ... although it is currently on hold whilst I prepare my session for COW2019.

      All the best,

      Bob
