Hanging on the old barbed wire

Since I got back from our recent cruise, I’ve taken delivery of some more Javis fence posts as well as a pack of their barbed wire. This has enabled me to make some more barbed wire entanglements.

If I see some more fence posts on sale, I may well add some more barbed wire entanglements to my collection, but in the meantime, I think that I have enough to be getting on with.

  1. Hi Bob,

Very effective looking and a great job as well. What size of base did you use?

    All the best,

      Cheers!

The larger bases are approximately 10cm long and the shorter are about 7.5cm long.

      All the best,

      Bob

    1. Steve J.,

Luckily, Javis did the difficult part of the build by providing the fence post bases. All I had to do was to cut the barbed wire to the right length, put it in place, and glue it with superglue.

      Simples!

      All the best,

      Bob

  3. I find that match sticks make very effective fence posts.

    1. Rob Young,

In the past I’ve tried making my own fence posts and bases, but I got so frustrated by how poor the results were, using the Javis ones we a godsend.

      All the best,

      Bob

  4. If you add much more you might be able to do the whole Western Front! ha ha

But seriously, looks good and should prove useful for a variety of World War scenarios (and other actions during the first half of the 20th century. Give or take a couple of decades?).

Now, where are those Bangalore torpedoes?

    1. Fitz-Badger,

I'd make more if I could because I can see them being a very useful addition to my terrain items, especially for my much-planned WW2 campaign.

      All the best,

      Bob
