5,000,000 hits!
I just realised that my blog has achieved over five million hits! The blog achieved a million hits by December 2015, three million by December 2018 (I missed when it achieved two million hits), four million hits by November 2021 ... and now it has passed five million hits.
I started my blog on Thursday 18th September 2008, and since then I have written over 5,350 posts, had more than 43,250 comments, and attracted over 400 followers. I don't think that's bad for something that I described as being 'self-publicising, self-centred, self-indulgent' back when I started!
Something odd happened to this blog post. I wrote it on Monday 19th February and set it up to be published on Tuesday 20th February … but then it appeared to have been published on 13th February, which is six days BEFORE I WROTE IT!
I have no idea how or why this happened. I wrote this blog post on my iPad, and as I was setting up the publication date and time, the iPad suddenly stopped working. Its battery power dropped from 40% to 2% in a matter of minutes before it switched itself off and all I can surmise is that this scrambled the date and time set up … but why did it choose to apparently publish it on 13th February? Who knows? I don’t … and I suspect that no one can explain it.
That's a seriously big number of hits Bob. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteMaudlin Jack Tar,
DeleteCheers! I must admit that my blog has done far better than I ever dreamed it would.
All the best,
Bob
Whatever the tech issues, many congrats on the 5M hits on the blog!

David Crook,
DeleteThanks for your very kind comment. In the words of a typical soccer manager, ‘The boy done well … well, at least his blog did!’
With luck, I should reach six million sometime in late, 2026 … and that will be another major achievement!
All the best,
Bob
A very well done to you Bob! That's some mighty big numbers!
ReplyDeleteRay Rousell,
DeleteCheers, old chap! I never thought I’d get more than a few ‘hits’ per post when I started out, and I’m still amazed at the number I get each day.
All the best,
Bob
Congratulations! A testament to the quality of your content, looking forward to 6 million!
ReplyDeleteMark Cordone,

As someone who just hit one million hits on their blog (and only one year younger), that is an impressive and worthy achievement. Seeing a new post from you on my feed is a must-click!
ReplyDeleteViscount Eric,
DeleteCheers! Good luck with your blogs … and hopefully you’ll soon reach two million hits.
All the best,
Bob
Congratulations Bob, some achievement.
ReplyDeleteDonnie McGibbon,
DeleteThe funny thing is that it doesn't feel that long since I wrote my first blog post ... and yet it is sixteen years!
All the best,
Bob
Well done Bob, that is quite an achievement. A real example to us all.

DeleteCheers! Thank you for your very kind words about my blog’s content.
All the best,

That's some achievement! Congratulations Bob.
ReplyDeleteEven allowing for the difference in time (5 years rather than 15), your hit count is an order of magnitude higher than mine!
Nundanket,
DeleteCheers! My blog was a bit of a slow starter, but once I began writing about things like the PORTABLE WARGAME etc., the number of 'hits' started to rise.
All the best,
Bob
Congratulations - that's about 10x as many hits as I've achieved and 4 x as many followers!
ReplyDeleteRob Young,
DeleteMany thanks for your kind words ... and I'm sure that your blog will soon be snapping at my heels when it comes to 'hits' and followers.
