Long live Maldacia!

I thought about it ... then I thought a bit more ... but I still could not come up with anything better, so my new imagi-nation will be called Maldacia.

I hope to begin work on filling in the place names on the map later this week, after which I will make a full size map of the country available via my Imagi-nations website.

  1. Maldacia sounds good for a country affected by internal strife.

    Mal = Bad

Dacia = somewhere in the balkans the romans had trouble with

  2. Dacia is also the name of a Romanian car maker. Now wholly owned by Renault, their early communist era products included the Denem, a version of the Renault 12TL. I gather that this was a 'Mal Dacia' in every respect...

  3. Tim,

When I read your comment I suddenly remembered the running gag about the Dacia Sandero that has been part of the last couple of series of 'Top Gear'.

Perhaps that is why the name Dacia got 'stuck' in my brain, and why it came to mind when I was making the distorted anagram of Dalmatia (Maldatia) that becamse Maldacia.

    All the best,

    Bob

  4. Bob,

How do you pronounce the "c" in Maldacia?

Is is a "k" sound? or a "ch" sound? or an "s" sound? or something else?

I just want to hear it in my head the same way you do.

  5. Bluebear Jeff,

The pronunciation I intend to use is:

    MAL-DAY-SEE-ARE

I hope that makes it clear.

    All the best,

    Bob

  6. Now all you need is an anthem.

Hail, hail Maldacia, land of the free, brave and bold.

  7. Paint it Pink,

As they used to say 'You hum it and I'll try to play along with you'.

Its a nice idea; the problem is that I am not very musical, and would probably end up with something that sounded like all the other European national anthems.

    All the best,

    Bob
