It took me less time than I expected to build my model of the Khakistani ironclad battleship and to paint it.
The colour scheme I chose was similar to that on the other ships I had modelled, and featured a black hull, beige upperworks, and an ochre funnel.
Hello Bob, excellent looking pre-dreadnought battleship. The main guns look so appropriate so simple but look so good
ReplyDeleteThank you
Quinn
Glory to Ruritania (Quinn),
DeleteThanks very much for you complimentary comments. I think that it is probably the best of the models I’ve built so far.
All the best,
Bob
Hello Bob,
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely looking for sure! I really like the barbette gun design you have opted for - very simple and effective and cunningly assembled and yes, I shall be, ahem, borrowing the idea….:-)
All the best,
DC
David Crook,
DeleteI was very pleased with the way this model turned out ... and the design of the barbette and guns is based on the design you used for the guns on your ACW models ships. Simple, but nonetheless effective,
All the best,
Bob
Bob -
ReplyDeleteYou ships look wonderful. As usual.

Archduke Piccolo (Ion),
DeleteCheers! I just wish that I could draw as well as your can.
All the best,

BOB,
ReplyDeleteGreat work on your modelling of the Ironclad- it certainly does have a charm all about it and will fit in very well with your other era Battleships- nicely done. Stay well there. Cheers. KEV.
Kev Robertson (Kev),
DeleteI tried to get the look of the toy tinplate ship of the period, and I don't think that I did too bad a job of it.
The models are now 'in harbour' (i.e. in one of my display cabinets) await their call to arms.
All the best,
Bob
Hi Bob,
ReplyDeleteanother nice looking ship model.
I'm glad you are feeling well enough to build ship models and paint them.
Scott
Scott,
DeleteMany thanks for your kind comment.
I find that making and painting these models helps to keep my mind occupied and helps to alleviate my pain and discomfort.
All the best,
Bob
Charming! (and effective.) Well done.
ReplyDeleteRoss Mac,
DeleteIt is very kind of you to say so!
All the best,
Bob
She looks great Bob!
ReplyDeletePeter Douglas,
DeleteCheers! I’m very pleased with the way it turned out.
All the best,
Bob
I kike the barbette guns as well, did you find them carved that way or did you shape them yourself?
ReplyDeleteMr. Pavone,
DeleteThe barbette guns are simply a pre-cut disc of wood, on top of which I glued a strip of basswood (the slide), a small block of basswood (the breech cover), and a short length of 4mm wooden rod (the gun barrel).
All the best,
Bob
Another fine addition to the fleet.
ReplyDeleteMark Cordone,
DeleteCheers! I think that she is the best yet!
All the best,
Bob
What a terrific ship model!
ReplyDeleteI do fancy having a go but don’t know where to start..
Tradgardmastare,
DeleteCheers! The models I have built are all very simple to construct. Have a look at the following to see get some idea how I made some of my earlier model warships:
